Jonathan is a
versatile
composer with an eclectic musical background.
He read for a degree in Music at the University of Surrey, where he studied Composition and Orchestration under Sebastian Forbes.
He was short-listed for, and subsequently ‘highly
commended’ in, the Joyce
Dixey Composition Award, presented
by the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS). Upon graduation,
Jonathan was awarded the Graham
Smith Memorial Prize for best final
year undergraduate composition folio.
He continued in academia, and read for an MA in Composition of Music
for Film and Television at the University of Bristol, where he studied
under Geoffrey Poole.
Throughout his university life Jonathan was involved in numerous
academic and extra-curricular projects encompassing a variety of genres
and media, including: short film, documentary, animation, theatre,
contemporary dance, and web-based radio. He gained experience
conducting music ensembles, and singing in national and international
performances with County and University choirs.
Since graduating, Jonathan has been engaged in several projects, most
notably as composer for Sir Peter Hall’s production of
Henrick Ibsen’s A
Doll’s House at the Theatre Royal
Bath and subsequently at the Rose Theatre Kingston.
Jonathan is pursuing a career in composition for various media.
